The BDI makes a bid for change in its latest report : Delivering the Innovation Dream

british design innovation

For some time the design industry has been concerned over the unfair competition from universities and public funded bodies to private sector design consultancies. This report details the disruptive market that is working against the growth of the private sector as a consequence of funded university innovation activity and the lack of engagement with the strategic design profession by some universities on a commercial basis. It suggests measures to reduce this competition and improve ties between universities and private sector consultancies.

In the last 24 hours there have been over 1500 downloads of this report. It’s clearly an emotive topic that will, hopefully, bring about a welcome change within the design industry.
