Tip of the week: Tweetdeck

Well this ‘Tip of the Week’ was a long time coming. It’s about my favourite social media tool, Tweetdeck. This downloadable Adobe Air Twitter client makes using Twitter and connecting with Facebook and Linked In so much easier. I’ve not created a complete ‘how to’ as that would have gone on forever. I’m also aware that many of you are already using Tweetdeck, so may not appreciate the basics. Instead this screencast covers a few extra tips that make using Tweetdeck more relevant to me. I’ve focused on the stuff that people I’ve chatted to recently weren’t aware of. If you do need me to cover any of the basics though, please drop any questions in the comments section and I’ll respond there. If you’re not already using Tweetdeck, pop to the website and download it.

  1. I suppose its user preference but for the basic twitter user Tweetdeck will do. For the more serious twitter user I would recommend Hootsuite. Tweetdeck doesn’t allow you to schedule tweets if most of your followers or communities are in a different time zone nor does it have an in-built link tagging tool, essential for all bloggers and PR folks who want to know where your traffic is coming from.

Therefore, my opinion only, Hootsuite should be Tip of the Week.

  2. Oh and I forgot to mention – Hootsuite has a ‘Stats’ section too so you can see which tweet got you the most clicks, which regions and which of your followers are the most influential (inc. Klout scores)

  3. Great piece Gemma, thanks for that – I love TweetDeck, but clearly have missed out half the pages!!! :)
